Second Annual Epic Summer Hip-Hop Tour Under The Influence of Music Starring Wiz Khalifa and A$AP Rocky

wizasapThe second annual Under The Influence of Music Tour will hit the road this summer, starring two of the most dynamic and exciting performers in music, Wiz Khalifa and A$AP Rocky.  The expanded, 20-city epic hip-hop trek will also feature special guests B.o.B., Trinidad Jame$, Joey Bada$$ & Pro Era and Berner, with performances by Chevy Woods and Smoke DZA

The Live Nation-produced tour is set to begin on July 17 th in the San Francisco Bay Area at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View and will culminate on August 11 th at Cincinnati’s Riverbend Music Center. 

“Last year’s Under the Influence Tour was such a blast, that we decided to double the number of dates and take the tour to even more of our fans across the country,” said tour founder Wiz Khalifa.  Last year’s Under the Influence Tour was a major success, making stops at 10 Live Nation amphitheatres around the country and averaging more than 17,000 tickets per show.

“I’m looking forward to getting out on the road with Wiz,” said A$AP Rocky.  “We’ve talked a lot about doing this and I’m excited that it’s finally come together.  This is going to be the biggest party of the summer.”

$15 Early Bird tickets will be available from the start of the tour presale through Sunday, April 28 th at 10PM local time, additional fees may apply, quantities limited.

Recap of BET Hip Hop Awards 2012

 

This year marked the seventh annual BET Hip Hop Awards hosted by funnyman Mike Epps.  The BET Hip Hop Awards delivered an exceptional night filled with hip hop’s biggest stars and highly anticipated performances.   

Wiz Khalifa opened the show with a performance of “Work Hard / Play Hard” featuring Juicy J and Young Jeezy accompanied by a live band.  Other highlights included Meek Mill’s performance of “Amen” and “Young and Getting’ It” featuring Kirko Bangz; Kendrick Lamar introducing a medley of his popular songs, “The Recipe” and “Swimming Pools;” G.O.O.D. music star 2 Chainz taking the stage to perform “Birthday Song” and “I’m Different,” Rick Ross’ performance of “Hold Me Back” joined by Omarion for their single “Ice Cold;” Atlanta’s own T.I. entertaining the crowd with newest singles “Trap Back Jumpin” and “Go Get It;” Future featuring Diddy, French Montana, Machine Gun Kelly and Uncle Luke had everyone on their feet with “Turn on the Lights,” “Same Damn Time,” “Wild Boy” and “Pop That;” and closing out the show, Violator artists reunited on stage in honor of music executive, Chris Lighty culminated with pure star power – a Tribe Called Quest, Missy Elliott, Missy Elliott, Spliff Star, 50 Cent and Fat Joe paid their respect during an unforgettable performance with some of Violator Music’s biggest hits and Chris Lighty’s personal favorites. 

Rakim was presented and honored by his peers with this year’s “I AM HIP HOP ICON” Award for his seemingly effortless style and delivery that stems not just from Hip-Hop, but from Jazz and R&B influences.  Rakim has a style like no other.   Always a key highlight at the awards are “The Cyphers.”  Snoop Dogg, T.I., DMX, A$AP Rocky, Cassidy, Mystikal, Talib Kweli, B.o.B, Eve, Boy Jones, Brianna Perry, Childish Gambino, Chipmunk, Lil Chuckee, The Kid Daytona, Driicky Graham, E-40, YG, Hopsin, Iggy Azalea, Joey Bada$$, K’La, Kendrick Lamar, Kosha Dillz; Kurupt; Mac Miller, Mystikal, Murda Mook, DJ Quik, RZA, ScHoolboy Q, Tito Lopez, Trae Tha Truth, Xzibit, Angel Haze and Ab-Soul.

Wiz Khalifa and Mac Miller Announce Under the Influence of Music Tour

Magnetic rappers and live performers, Wiz Khalifa and Mac Miller team-up for the Under the Influence of Music Tour with special guests Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q and Chevy Woods.  The Live Nation produced tour is scheduled to begin on July 26th in Cincinnati, at the Riverbend Music Center, with additional dates and opening acts to be announced soon. Tickets go on sale to the public on April 20th at 4:20pm local time at Ticketmaster.com and LiveNation.com.

“I’m really excited for this tour, for the fans and as a fan of music myself.  It’s gonna be trippy!” said Khalifa.   “I’m excited to go on a tour like this because it brings a group of individuals together to move across the country as a unit to showcase great music,” adds Miller.

Both Wiz Khalifa and Mac Miller have tremendous live followings.  Wiz Khalifa has performed over 350 shows since the beginning of 2010 with major tours including “Deal or No Deal,” “Campus Consciousness” and last summer’s 45 date sell-out the “Rolling Papers Tour.”  He has also played at more than 50 universities and colleges over the past 14 months.  Major festival appearances include: Bonnaroo, Coachella, Bamboozle, Bumbershoot, Rock The Bells, Summer Camp, Soundset and more. 

Khalifa has released three albums which have resonated with fans and critics across the country including Show and Prove (2006), Deal or No Deal (2009) and Rolling Papers (2011).  Khalifa’s megahit single from Rolling Papers, “Black and Yellow,” has sold over 3.6 million copies, for a total of more than 7 million singles sold from Rolling Papers alone, which was his Atlantic Records debut.  Khalifa also released a movie soundtrack with Snoop Dogg, “Mac & Devin Go To High School,” which featured the hit single “Young, Wild, and Free,” selling more than 2.5 million copies.

Miller’s release of “Blue Slide Park” (Rostrum, 11/8/11) was the first indie #1 album debut since 1995. 

His debut digital only EP, “On And On And Beyond,” released in 2011, has sold 90,000 copies.  He also has two gold singles to his credit including “Knock, Knock” and “Donald Trump” with little to no radio airplay.
