Honors English, State Of The Art

The GRAMMY® Nominations Concert Live— Countdown To Music’s Biggest Night®

Three-time GRAMMY® winner Ludacris, GRAMMY winner Lupe Fiasco, and GRAMMY-winning duo Sugarland have been added to the lineup for “The GRAMMY Nominations Concert Live!! — Countdown To Music’s Biggest Night®” (www.grammy.com). Previously announced performers are country artist Jason Aldean and five-time GRAMMY winner Lady Gaga, and two-time GRAMMY winner and once again LL COOL J is set to host. The one-hour special takes place live on Wednesday, Nov. 30 , at the Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE. The show, which will announce nominations in several categories as well as feature performances by past GRAMMY winners and/or nominees, will be broadcast in HDTV and 5.1 Surround Sound on the CBS Television Network (www.cbs.com) from 10 – 11 p.m. ET/PT. This concert special marks the fourth time nominations for the annual GRAMMY Awards will be announced live on primetime television. Last year’s airing of the nominations special led to increased ratings in all key demographics for the 53rd Annual GRAMMY Awards telecast earlier this year, delivering the show’s best ratings in all key measures in more than a decade.

In addition to unveiling nominations for the 54th GRAMMY Awards, “The GRAMMY Nominations Concert Live!” will feature a special, live announcement from a truly iconic group regarding their historic band reunion set to take place on the GRAMMY stage on Feb. 12, 2012.

Fantabuloso Dos

Chicago’s 103.5 KISS FM brought out music heavyweights for it’s Fantabuloso Dos concert May 18th at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, IL.

A sequel to its 2010 Fantabuloso concert that featured Ludacris, Ke$ha, Trey Songz, Jay Sean, B.O.B., Jason Derulo, Kevin Rudolf and Orianthi, this year’s event boasted artists that included Lupe Fiasco, PITTBULL, T-Pain, David Guetta, Jessie J, Far East Movement, Taio Cruz, Mike Posner and Tinie Tempah.

Lupe Fiasco Promotes Lasers

Hip Hop star and Chicago native Lupe Fiasco is currently out on the road promoting his latest CD “Lasers” which was March 8, 2011. While promoting, Fiasco made a stop at Chicago’s WGCI radio station Coca Cola Lounge.

Chicago Anthem- We Can Do It Now

Chicago heavyweights Jennifer Hudson, Common, Lupe Fiasco and producer No I.D. have teamed up to create the Chicago anthem We Can Do It Now.

We Can Do It Now was inspired by season three of the Fox Sports Network series Replay that follows Chicago high school basketball teams the Bloom Township Trojans and the Brother Rice Crusaders. For more information on the song and the series click here. To download the song, click here

Kanye West Stay in School Event

The Kanye West Foundation held its 3rd Annual “Stay in School” event June 8th at Farragut Career Academy in Chicago, IL. 

West, along with fellow Chicago hip hop artists Common and Lupe Fiasco, Chicago Public Schools CEO Ron Huberman, Kanye West Foundation CEO Joseph Collins, Farragut Principal Theresa Plascenica and others announced this year, Chicago Public School students with improved grades, attendance and behavior will be rewarded with in school appearances by West, Common and Fiasco.

Students from Farragut, John Marshall Metropolitan and Percy L. Julian high schools were treated to performances from the hip hop stars later that day. Last year the foundation awarded 3,000 CPS students with tickets to a Kanye West concert at the Chicago Theatre.

The mission of the foundation is to help combat the dropout problem in schools throughout the U.S. by partnering with community organizations to provide under-served youth access to music programs that will enable them to unleash their creative ability and reach their full potential.
